About

About

I'm a Backend Engineer specializing in Node.js and TypeScript. I work on the parts of an application its users never see: the APIs, the data behind them, and the services, queues, and caches that connect them.

I started with full-stack development at The 10x Academy, then moved into backend development at Digicorp Information Systems, building REST APIs and microservices with Node.js for enterprise web applications. At Khaitan & Co, I work on enterprise backend systems: backend architecture, APIs, database schema design, workflows, and deployment on Azure. The details are on the Experience page.

The areas I care about most are backend systems, cloud, and distributed systems, and understanding what happens underneath the frameworks I use.

Engineering Focus

The problems that interest me sit below the interface: how a service is structured, how its data stays correct, and how it behaves when something goes wrong.

  • Behavior beyond the framework. Understanding the runtime, database, and network underneath an abstraction, not only its API.
  • Designing backend services. APIs and service boundaries that stay understandable as a system grows.
  • Data and persistence. How data is modelled, stored, and kept consistent across relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Asynchronous processing. Moving work out of the request path with queues, background jobs, and caching, and handling the retries and failures that come with it.
  • Distributed systems and reliability. How services communicate, fail, and recover, and designing for the failure cases as well as the normal path.
  • Cloud infrastructure and delivery. How code is built, deployed, and run: CI/CD pipelines, containers, and cloud platforms.

How I Think About Engineering

Show the engineering, don't advertise it.

I would rather show how something works than describe it with adjectives. That principle shapes this portfolio: the work and writing here focus on the engineering itself, which means:

  • Architecture. How the parts of a system fit together, and why they are separated where they are.
  • Trade-offs. What a decision costs, and what it was chosen over.
  • Implementation details. The specifics that make a design work in practice.
  • Reliability. How a system behaves when a dependency fails, not only when everything works.
  • Data integrity. Keeping data correct as it moves between people, services, and storage.
  • Real constraints. Time, scope, and infrastructure limits, stated rather than hidden.

Currently Exploring

What I'm studying and building with at the moment:

  • Backend architecture and system design
  • Distributed systems
  • Node.js internals
  • Cloud infrastructure
  • AI-assisted document processing
  • Reliable data workflows

The last two are at the center of BillSync, the platform I'm currently building, and some of what I learn ends up in Engineering.
